Destination

LITTLE RANN OF KUTCH

The Little Rann of Kutch is a unique geographical landscape with a vast, featureless plain encrusted with salt. During the rains, this dry and hard desert is inundated with water. The area has been declared as the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary and is the last place on earth for these animals. There are small higher ground areas of the ancient seabed which are covered with grass and shrubs. These limited green patches support the wildlife in the region. Largely, it’s a flat barren desert with hissing sandstorms. In these backdrops you will be photographing the Wild Asses galloping in the dust.

Safaris are conducted in the mornings and evenings and you have the option of either doing a jeep safari or a camel safari. In the winter months, this location is a paradise for different migratory birds of prey including the Peregrine falcon- the fastest animal in the world.
