Join Shivang Mehta in the land of Jaguars for some breathtaking photographic opportunities of the apex cat and a host of other species in this Pantanal Photo Safari.
Pantanal is the world’s largest tropical wetland area and home to the Americas largest big cat - The Jaguar. Join Nature Wanderers for this unique experience in Jaguar land in search of this exquisite water loving big cat which also happens to be the world’s third largest big cat after the tiger and the lion. This exhilarating 8 day Pantanal will take you in the heart of Jaguar terrains as we shall also focus on other species of the region including the Ocelot, capuchin monkeys, toucans, giant ant-eaters, South American coati, giant otters and much more.
Meet the SouthWild guide at Cuiaba airport, eat lunch and depart from Cuiaba for a 3-h-long transfer to SouthWild Pantanal lodge. Stop on Transpantaneira road to see abundant wildlife. Arrive at the lodge.
Lodge activities can be organised as per the interest of the group.
1) Forest walk : 1-2 hour morning or afternoon walk in the forest and savannahs not far from the lodge. SouthWild Pantanal is an excellent location for birding, almost an essential location for serious birders who come to Pantanal. Optional visit to the forest tower. Capuchin Monkeys are often seen in the forest.
2) Boat ride: 2 hours morning or afternoon boat tour of the Rio Pixaim. It is also one of the best sites for viewing wild Giant Otters from a close distance. Often they will come close to the boat, craning their necks, and snorting loudly.
3) Horseback riding: 2 hour horseback riding through the ranch. This offers a great opportunity to see the Pantanal from a more intimate angle.
Additionally SouthWild Pantanal offers the free use of the Jabiru tower close to the lodge and great photo opportunities on the feeders and garden outside. During the hottest time of the day you can enjoy the pool or the large library of nature books.
Dinner at the lodge. After dinner we head out searching for the Ocelot - a nocturnal wild cat endemic to this landscape.
Overnight at SouthWild Pantanal Lodge.
Breakfast. Scheduled field experiences will be organised as per recent sightings, weather and group preferences. Each day includes one forest walk and one outing by boat, car or horseback. Lunch and dinner are included. The ocelot search would be on for both the nights.
