Tanzania lies within the African Great Lakes region, turning it into a land with some unique ecosystems and thriving wildlife. With highlands and sweeping plains, this country also boasts of hosting Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. Open grasslands, acacia woodlands and the extreme habitats of the Ngorongoro crater await you. Tanzania is also home to some of the largest herds of African elephants. The Northern Circuit of Tanzania is a well established journey into some of these incredible habitats and locations, enriching your experience and adding to your wildlife portfolio.
This tour begins from Arusha, a gateway city to the various destinationss in this part of Tanzania. We will pick you up from your hotel and then drive to Tarangire National park. Packed lunch will be served in the bush. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. In the dry season, a large variety of animals congregate along the river. You will drive into a landscape dotted with baobab trees and umbrella-thorn acacias. In addition to over 300 bird species, you can also see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra. In the evening you will drive to Karatu highlands for dinner and overnight rest at the lodge.
Post breakfast, we drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater for aan in-depth exploration of this distinctive eco-system. Enjoy abundant wildlife viewing set against the impressive backdrop of the Ngorongoro Crater, the heart of the conservation area. It's one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles with a magical setting and abundant wildlife. For lunch, enjoy a picnic next to one of the hippo pools on the crater floor. We will continue with the game drive throughout the various habitats of the crater, including woodland filled with zebra and baboon, plains that support scavenging hyena and a lake that is tinted pink with Greater and Lesser flamingos. Other game that you can see includes the endangered Black rhino, leopard, cheetah, hyena and other members of the antelope family.
We will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Lake Manyara, arriving in timee for an early afternoon game drive. Lake Manyara contains a diverse range of habitats and topographical features ranging from the rift wall, ground water forest, acacia woodlands and open grasslands to the shores of Lake Manyara and the lake itself. There are some 350 different bird species in the park. The park provides sanctuary to a variety of animals such as the gazelle, impala, buffalo, wildebeest, hyena, baboon, giraffe, hippo and the famous tree-climbing lions that are unique to the Lake. Picnic lunch will be served in the bush. The drive to Arusha will be made keeping in mind your flight timings or we will drop you at your hotel in Arusha for overnight stay.
